The Voice Mail Softkeys feature provides context sensitive softkeys on the telephone set, which help guide the user through voice mail system functions.
The Voice mail Softkeys feature supports the existing verbal prompt and DTMF keypad digit response, as well as sending a voice mail state menu message to the system. If the system is set up to interpret the message, the appropriate context sensitive softkeys are displayed. The user has the option of:
Waiting for the verbal prompt and entering the appropriate DTMF keypad digit response
Pressing the softkey
Entering the appropriate DTMF keypad digit response directly, without prompting.
When a softkey is pressed, the system interprets it and sends the appropriate DTMF digits as if the user entered them on the keypad. This feature is supported across MSDN/DPNSS networked systems, and uses the languages that are currently selectable on the sets.
MiVoice Business embedded voice mail is supported.
Softkeys are only provided for the most often used options, or options with no verbal prompt available.
After pressing a softkey prompt, it is important to wait for the telephone to refresh its display, or the next softkey prompt could be sent out of context.
It is recommended that mailboxes be created with FCOS 10 (VIP) (applicable for NuPoint Messenger IP and MiCollab Nupoint UM only)
For the voice mail port, ensure the Voice Mail Softkey COS option is enabled.
For each user, set the Voice Mail Softkey COS option to "Yes. This enables voice mail softkey functionality on individual sets that can support it.
Supported on all devices.
Operation of the Voice Mail Softkeys feature is very similar to the existing verbal prompt voice mail system.
